LAST REVIEWED · 26 JULY 2026

If gambling affects your finances, relationships, work, sleep or wellbeing, stop and seek help. You do not need to wait for a crisis.

Immediate safetyIf you are in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency service now. Gamblingr does not provide crisis care.

Set limits before play

  • Decide a fixed entertainment budget that does not include rent, bills, debt payments or savings.
  • Set a firm time limit and use an alarm or platform session reminder.
  • Do not borrow money, use credit intended for essentials or chase losses.
  • Avoid gambling when upset, intoxicated, lonely or trying to change your mood.
  • Keep gambling separate from work and family time.

Signs it may be becoming harmful

Money

Spending more than planned, hiding transactions, borrowing or missing bills.

Control

Repeatedly failing to stop, increasing stakes or chasing losses.

Wellbeing

Anxiety, irritability, sleep problems or gambling to escape difficult feelings.

Relationships

Secrecy, conflict, isolation or neglecting responsibilities.

Tools that can help

Use deposit, loss, wager and session limits where available. Cooling-off periods can create distance; formal self-exclusion can block access for a longer period. Device-level blocking tools and bank gambling blocks may add another layer.

Find qualified local support

Support services and legal frameworks differ by country. Search for your national health service, licensed gambling regulator or a recognised problem-gambling treatment organisation. Confirm the service is appropriate for your location before sharing personal information.

For friends and familyChoose a calm time, describe specific behaviour, avoid taking over debts without safeguards, protect shared finances and seek specialist advice for yourself as well as the person gambling.

Our content rule

Gamblingr does not frame gambling as income or a solution to financial stress. We publish age and risk reminders, explain material terms and link to support wherever content could prompt a gambling decision.
